Updated: Apr 5, 2024

During the evening hours of January 5, 2022, a bicyclist was fatally struck by an unknown vehicle near Queens Ln. and Old Bayshore HWY in San Jose, California. Wednesday night's fatality marks the second fatal hit-and-run of the new year. On Sunday, January 2, 2022, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run near South White Road and East Hills Drive. The San Jose Police Department is currently investigating both incidents.

Unfortunately and far too frequently, the driver at fault fails to stop after a collision or does not have auto insurance. Therefore, we cannot stress enough – the importance of adding uninsured/underinsured (UIM/UM) coverage to your auto insurance policy. A UIM/UM can protect you if the at-fault driver has little or no auto insurance coverage. Protect yourself against those who drive with little or no insurance by ensuring you have UIM/UM coverage under your auto insurance policy. Read more about UIM/UM motorist coverage here.

Please drive carefully and look out for potential bicyclists and pedestrians on the roadway.
