Police Line Do Not Cross

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, tragedy struck on the streets of San Mateo when a major car accident took the life of a young mother and left her two children hospitalized. The collision occurred just after 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Alameda de las Pulgas and Highway 92.

According to the San Mateo Police Department, a Ford SUV exited the eastbound Highway 92 off-ramp and failed to stop at a red light. The vehicle broad-sided a Toyota Prius traveling northbound through the intersection on a green light. The 30-year-old driver of the Prius was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two young sons, just 5 and 7 years old, were rushed to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries. Investigators say impairment is not suspected, but the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.

This devastating event has shaken the local community and serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly lives can change.
