In a recent tragedy on February 27, 2024, Santa Cruz County was rocked by a collision involving a blue Kia Forte and a group of bicyclists on SR-9. An 85-year-old woman from Boulder Creek was driving northbound on SR-9 when the Kia veered off the road, striking the bicyclists before crashing into a tree.
The aftermath left the driver with minor injuries, while two bicyclists suffered major injuries requiring air ambulance transport, and the other two were taken to nearby hospitals.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
